The Sims was a life simulator developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts in 2000. By 2002 the game had become the best selling computer game of all time with 11.3 million units sold. It is said that Will Wright was inspired to create the Sims after his house burned down and he was going through the process of rebuilding and buying new furniture.
