Description
Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) introduced the VT220 terminal in 1983 to great success-within five years DEC had sold over one million terminals! The monochrome screen glowed either white, green, or amber text, and connected via serial line to a computer. Terminals like this replaced punched cards and typewriter-based terminals, like the IBM 2741.
