Description
The OLPC X0-1, was launched by the One Laptop Per Child initiative in 2005. The intent of the project was to make affordable technology accessible world-wide, with a particular focus in developing countries. The laptop was marketed as a small, inexpensive and low powered learning option compared to the average laptop costing upwards of $1000 USD. The North American non-profit's intentions were to create a digital utopia, although failed to acknowledge the resources needed to implement global technology. One Laptop Per Child shut down in 2014 due to a lack of sales.
