This artifact is a photocopied clipping from the Kitchener-Waterloo Record featuring an article about the death of Stanley Marsland.
Stanley Marsland played a significant role in the history of Waterloo, founding Marsland Engineering Limited, a high-tech electronics company that employed over 1,400 people at its peak. The company was an industrial powerhouse in Canada, earning the Ontario Achievement Award in the 1960s for its exports and contributions to electronics. In addition to his entrepreneurial success, Stanley Marsland built the Marsland Centre in Uptown Waterloo and purchased eight acres of land to develop a park for his employees.
Aside from founding Marsland Engineering Ltd, Stanley also contributed to Canadians, acting as the director of the Royal Canadian Mint for two terms.
