physical object

Identifier
2015.3.80
Description
The IBM Selective Typeball originates from the IBM Selective Typewriter, which differentiated itself from competitors with it’s typeball. The typeball allows for quick and even stamping of characters, eliminating the need for a typebar, thus resolving many of the problems associated with typewriters. Typeballs can be easily swapped out to achieve different fonts or special characters, this typeball in particular is labelled Courier 72 – pitch 10.
